Welcome to my website.

My name is Michael Oakes and I am the principal photographer. My photography business was started in 1987 but my interest in photography started when I was at school in the mid 1960’s. My then art teacher who was a keen photographer built a darkroom in the art department, the moment I developed and printed my first black and white film and seeing the image appear on the exposed photographic paper for the first time was a moment of pure magic.  I built  my own darkroom when I was 15 years old and have been hooked ever since. All photography is now done with high end digital cameras, allowing for more creativity using image manipulation computer programmes to produce the final images.

  I live in Whitley Bay and I am available to undertake assignments throughout the Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham areas but I am willing to travel further afield if required.
